My first attempt at spelunking was a success and gave me a one-of-a-kind and thrilling experience. Hinatuan is well-known for its Enchanted River but little do people know that aside from it, Hinatuan has a greater deal to offer. One such place is Sarsoza Ponta Cave in Port Lamon. This cave is 30 minutes away from Barangay Cambatong by boat. Boats can be rented there for P160 per hour.
Here are some pictures I took:

A perched sea hawk greets visitor at the entrance of the cave |

The statue of Virgin Mary outside the entrance |
The supposed remains of Spanish soldiers who sought refuge in the cave during the Revolution |

This cave is a great destination for first time cave explorers like me because of its relatively short length and traversable environment. What gave the trek through the cave a challenge are some steep, muddy sections and sharp stalactites which are hard to hold on to, as is usual for caves. The trek might be too exhausting but it was most fulfilling when one reached the other end and saw the light peek from the outside.
WAAH ang ganda po :)
