Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur Escapade

My country truly never ceases to amaze me with her astonishing beauty. Last Sunday, I experienced her magnificence once again when I and my friends went to one of her gems, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Surigao del Sur's Enchanted River

A must-see destination when visiting the province of Surigao del Sur, the Enchanted River earned its monicker from local legends which have been passed on from generations to another. It is said that engkantos and fairies dwelt in the unexplored depths of this river and hand in hand, they added sapphire and jade to the river giving it an unusual color. Nonetheless, the river has attracted swarms of tourists even from the farthest places of our land. The reason for this can easily be perceived - its gleaming and invigorating water.

Sarsoza Ponta Cave

My first attempt at spelunking was a success and gave me a one-of-a-kind and thrilling experience. Hinatuan is well-known for its Enchanted River but little do people know that aside from it, Hinatuan has a greater deal to offer. One such place is Sarsoza Ponta Cave in Port Lamon. This cave is 30 minutes away from Barangay Cambatong by boat. Boats can be rented there for P160 per hour.

Hinatuan's Sibadan Fish Cage

One of Hinatuan's best dining spots can be found right in the waters of Hinatuan Bay. Sibadan Fish Cage is a restaurant on stilts accessible only by boats and is best visited during the summer season where fish is abundant. Aside from offering freshly cooked seafoods, it also offers board and lodging at a reasonable price - 300 pesos for a single fan room.
